Roland Liebscher-Bracht

Discover how Roland Liebscher-Bracht went from martial artist to one of Europe’s leading pain management specialists and best-selling author.

Roland Liebscher-Bracht is a bestselling author and one of Europe’s most well-known pain-management specialists. He and his wife, Dr. Petra Bracht, have spent more than 35 years developing and refining the Liebscher & Bracht Therapy, a unique treatment that directly addresses the cause of most pain.

The Namesake & the Face of Liebscher & Bracht.

Over 2 million YouTube subscribers invite Roland Liebscher-Bracht into their homes — many every day — to follow along with his pain-relieving exercises.

Roland films easy-to-follow YouTube exercise videos that show people how to help themselves against various pain conditions. Anyone anywhere can exercise with Roland. All you need is internet access and a device.

But the YouTube exercise videos are only a part of Roland’s success.

He also trains doctors and therapists in the Liebscher & Bracht method of pain therapy, travels across German-speaking countries to lecture, and writes best-selling books. So far, Roland’s publications have been translated into 10 languages and sold over 1 million copies.

Roland’s path to success was unconventional — and that’s why the Liebscher & Bracht pain management therapy has been so successful.

Who is Roland Liebscher-Bracht?

Roland’s background is an unlikely one for a pain management specialist – and that’s precisely what makes the Liebscher & Bracht therapy exceptional. Roland trained as an industrial engineer specialising in mechanical engineering. Because he has no formal education in medicine or therapy, he’s always had a completely different perspective on pain and how to treat it. From the very beginning of his journey as a pain-management specialist, his mind was wide open to possibilities.

Roland’s fresh approach to pain and his wife Dr. Petra Bracht’s medical expertise laid the foundation for Liebscher & Bracht’s success.

How Fascinations Became a Vocation.

Roland has always been fascinated by how things worked and how things moved. When he was young, he was captivated by repairing machines (like motorcycles) and complex martial arts moves. His two passions led him to study mechanical engineering and martial arts.

Both fields of study equipped him with knowledge that would prove vital when developing the Liebscher & Bracht therapy. Roland’s understanding of mechanics helped him analyse complex physical movements. If the body isn’t moving smoothly and effortlessly, he can find the cause.

In the 1980s, Roland opened martial arts schools where he taught the Chinese self-defence technique Wing-Tsun. While teaching, he made a groundbreaking discovery: specific movement sequences relieved his students’ pain conditions.

Groundbreaking Discovery. New Pain Therapy.

Roland began tailoring the martial arts sequences for pain relief. The movements worked, even for people suffering from osteoarthritis and pain conditions that were resistant to treatment.

But he couldn’t figure out why.

Roland asked the doctors and physical therapists who trained with him, but no one — not even his wife — could give him an explanation. Roland’s pain development and treatment observations were opposed to conventional medical theories.

Roland and Petra began to study the relationship between movement and pain closely. Roland learned from physical therapists that pressure and massage can influence a muscle’s state. His findings led him to develop exercises and pressure point techniques, which became a pain-relieving method called WingTsun ChiKung. (ChiKung means healing through movement.)

As Roland refined Wing Tsun ChiKung, he gained more insights into movement and pain, which led him to develop a philosophy:

Excessive muscular and fascial tension causes our brain to signal to our body that we’re in pain. These signals are our body’s way of protecting itself from damaging the joints and spine.

This philosophy has become the basis for Roland and Petra’s pioneering pain-management treatment: The Liebscher & Bracht Therapy.
