It sounds like you have a condition called Morton\u2019s Neuroma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Morton\u2019s Neuroma? What\u2019s that?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A neuroma is a growth of nerve tissue. <strong>A Morton\u2019s Neuroma is not a true neuroma, but a thickening of the nerve tissue.<\/strong><sup><a href=\"#\" class=\"lnb-footnote-anchor\" data-group=\"lnb-footnote-1\">1)<\/a><\/sup> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s your foot\u2019s reaction to pressure or irritation.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The condition causes pain in the ball of your foot, usually between your second and third toes or your third and fourth toes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Oh. How did I develop Morton\u2019s Neuroma?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before we talk about how your Morton\u2019s Neuroma developed, you should know how your foot is designed. Short and feet: the front of your foot is made up of phalanges (the bones in our toes), metatarsals (five long bones that run from the base of each toe to the middle of our feet), and two sesamoid bones (embedded in the tendon of our big toe.) If the nerves between the metatarsals \u2014 these are the nerves that\u00a0 provide your toes with feeling \u2014 thicken, there is a loss of space. The nerves are compressed and become irritated. The invisible marble appears, and the pain starts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>So, what causes Morton\u2019s Neuroma?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>That burning sensation in the ball of your foot might be caused by your shoes.<\/strong> High-heeled shoes or tight-fitting shoes can squeeze your toes and put pressure on the nerves. You may also develop a Morton\u2019s Neuroma if you regularly play <strong>high-impact sports.
