When he was young, he was captivated by repairing machines (like motorcycles) and complex martial arts moves. His two passions led him to study mechanical engineering and martial arts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both fields of study equipped him with knowledge that would prove vital when developing the Liebscher & Bracht therapy. Roland&#8217;s understanding of mechanics helped him analyse complex physical movements. If the body isn&#8217;t moving smoothly and effortlessly, he can find the cause.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the 1980s, Roland opened martial arts schools where he taught the Chinese self-defence technique Wing-Tsun. While teaching, he made a groundbreaking discovery: specific movement sequences relieved his students&#8217; pain conditions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Groundbreaking Discovery. New Pain Therapy.<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roland began tailoring the martial arts sequences for pain relief. The movements worked, even for people suffering from osteoarthritis and pain conditions that were resistant to treatment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But he couldn&#8217;t figure out why.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roland asked the doctors and physical therapists who trained with him, but no one \u2014 not even his wife \u2014 could give him an explanation. Roland learned from physical therapists that pressure and massage can influence a muscle&#8217;s state. His findings led him to develop exercises and pressure point techniques, which became a pain-relieving method called WingTsun ChiKung.
